I’m actually a fourth year general surgery resident. I was born and raised in Torreón, Coahulia, a city from the north of Mexico.

Since I was in high school, my interest in medicine was born since I was fascinated with health and science subject classes which would then made me specially curious for the surgical field that made me took the decision to scrub in surgeries with some surgeons my dad was friend of, and finally made the decision to go in to medical school, which I did at Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Juárez del Estado de Durango. I did my internship year at Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubiran, where I discovered a different type of surgeon that I wasn’t familiar with before, which is the academic surgeon type with strong focus in research, as well as I was exposed to different types of complex surgeries that I wasn’t exposed before, which finally led me to the decision to do my general surgery residency within this Institute.

After completing my general surgery residency, I am pursuing to do a bariatrics / minimally invasive surgery fellowship, as I was fascinated with the upper gastrointestinal type surgeries during my surgical training. I am looking forward to realize this fellowship in a high-volume centre with academic and research emphasis which further allows me to implement this knowledge and newer techniques at my home Institution.
