Uriel Clemente
My name is Uriel Clemente, I’m 29 years old. I was born and raised in a southeastern state of the Mexican Republic called Chiapas. At the age of 18 I moved to Monterrey, a city north of the country, to study medicine. Since 2012 I’ve lived in Mexico City, where I started working at Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubiran. In this hospital I developed my social service as a research fellow. In 2014 I began the General Surgery residency at this Institute. My area of interest in surgery is oncology. My future plan is to apply to a surgical oncology fellowship in order to practice oncology in my native state, since there is a marked lack of human resources and a large volume of patients with oncologic diseases.
Alexandra Rueda de Leon
My name is Alexandra Rueda de León. I was born in Mexico city in 1989. Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to become a doctor, and more specifically a surgeon. When I became 18, my family and I moved to another city in the central part of the country named Queretaro, there I started medical school. But I always wanted to move back to my hometown due to the fact that hospitals there were small and without a lot of options for residency programs. In 2012, I started my internship at Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Medicas y Nutricion Salvador Zubiran, and since the beginning, I loved the program for general surgery, which I started in 2014. My area of interest in surgery is hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. I want to start a fellowship in this area next year, and then I would like to find a place where I could practice surgery, but also allows me to focus on teaching and research activities.
Jesus Morales
My name is Jesus Morales, I´m 29 years old. I was born in the port of Veracruz that is located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I studied medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Veracruz University. In 2012 I moved to Mexico City to perform the specialty of general surgery in the “Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán”. I am particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery and laparoscopy. I believe that progressively medical science has evolved and minimally invasive surgery will become an indispensable field for surgery.
Rafael Humberto Pérez Soto
Hi, my name is Rafael Humberto Pérez Soto and I am 35 years old. Last February I finished the general surgery residency at Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán in Mexico City and I am currently doing the fellowship in endocrine surgery at the same hospital. I was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico where I graduated in 2005 from engineering school and again in 2013 from medicine school at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California. I came to Mexico City to continue my professional education in a hospital with high quality standards such as Nutrición. I am interested in endocrine surgery, minimally invasive surgery and in new and not-expensive technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases for low-income countries.
